We had started this academic year with the overview of all microsoft programs.we had a good response for it from the audience.

5.00 p.m - Krithiga.p ,microsoft student partner handled on student-partner program and ms certifications

5.20 p.m- Annieta,an aspirant of msp handled on s2b and imagine cup program.

5.40 p.m-Ventakata krishnan spoke about the dreamspark contests.

5.50 p.m-Dinesh sunder,chairman of mcc summarised all the programs and gave an intro on autocollage

6.00p.m -feedback was received from audience and their doubts were cleared.

C# - A 3 Day Workshop

This event saw a huge turnover too.. It was open to all students of our college,irrespective of year of study and department.The first 2 days (Jan 19,20)from 4.45 to 6.30 class room sessions were conducted ,and on the last day, a HOL was conducted..

Day 1 : Basic Programming in C#,Visual Studio 08 basics

Day 2 : C# concepts - classes ,objects,inhertiance,static methods,e.t.c..,....

Qyery/Clarification sessions at the end.

Day 3 : Hands-On-Lab.

Feedback was postive and response was great.We hope to continue similar sessions in the future.

OOPS - A preworkshop meet !

Today evening @ 4.45 ,we had a preworkshop meet - exclusive for the first years(who haven't learnt OOPS concepts,yet).This meet was held,so that they can participate in the C # workshop to be held day after.

All the MSPs handled sessions on OOPS for them.The response was tremendous(..both in terms of turnover over 110 participants) and interactivity.

At the end of the 2.15 hour session,we held a query/clarificatioon session.

Gave a MS goody to an enthusiastic participant - Sreevalli ,I ECE.

Microsoft launches DreamSpark in India !

On 5th November 2008, Microsoft unveiled DreamSpark - a software giveaway for an estimated 10 million eligible students in India. DreamSpark will provide students access to the latest Microsoft developer and designer tools at no charge.

Microsoft DreamSpark will be available to all students whose studies touch on technology, design, math, science and engineering. The software available to students will include:

This broad range of professional-level software will be available both online via www.dreamsparkindia.com; and in offline format via DVDs distributed by program partners NIIT, Aptech and Hughes Net Fusion Centers. A student merely needs to offer a proof of identity at a branch of these institutes to avail of a DreamSpark DVD. There are 125 NIIT, 175 Aptech, and 200 Hughes Net Fusion Centers participating across the country.

These program partners will also provide technology training on the DreamSpark software tools at a nominal cost; as well as have the option of soft skills training in languages like English and Hindi. Microsoft India is also working with academic institutions, government bodies and student organizations across the country to ensure that all students get a chance to benefit from DreamSpark.

The DreamSpark program in India is tailor-made to join the dots between software access and employability - which means making training and enablement complement simple access to technology.

DreamSpark will also facilitate student participation in Microsoft’s annual marquee contest, Imagine Cup, through various contest categories such as software design, short films, photography etc. Students from India that qualify for the Imagine Cup 2009 World Finals will get to travel to Egypt. Selected teams will also get the opportunity to get mentored by the Centre for Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneurship (CIIE) at IIM, Ahmedabad.

Addressing students and academicians at IIT Delhi – where the DreamSpark program was unveiled - Bill Gates, Chairman, Microsoft Corp, said, “We want to do everything we can to equip a new generation of technology leaders with the knowledge and tools they need to harness the magic of software to improve lives, solve problems and catalyze economic growth. After the start of the new semester, our first activity - 'Bootstrapper' event was held on July 23rd,2008.For a tight scheduled week of exams and other activities,it was an okay crowd of atleast 60 people.We started off with a flash presentation- our club signature.Then Gracelyne,MSP made a presentation - Introduction to MSP programme.

The ppt included things about the MSP Programme,Benefits of Microsoft Campus Club,overview of MCC'08-'09 activities,About Imagine Cup '09,about oppurtunities from Microsoft like S2B,DreamSpark contests,Student Experience,and other such things.In between slides few question were shot at the students to know how much awareness was among them about these contests and technology(like AJAX,Silverlight,Expression Studio) in general.A video on IC history was also shown.

Ramesh,MSP then took over.He,being the admin of my college MSDNAA,gave a briefing on that.He also took the basic concepts about .Net .We gave away few MS pens and keychains as giveaways for the pop quiz winners.

Launch of Microsoft Campus Club @ MEPCO SCHLENK ENGG. COLLEGE

On 18th March ,2008 was the much awaited launch of the microsoft Campus Club which was a part of the MSP endeavour (for details about wat an MSP is see this link).

The launch was at the Computer Science seminar hall at about 4.30.
We could sense excitement in the air from the hullabaloo !
The inaugral was very formal @ the begining - i mean prayer song and welcome address , inaugral address by HOD of IT, speech on the MCC (Microsoft Campus Club)......
Then it loosened up a bit after a flash presentation,and then Mr.Arun Kumar,TCE made his presentation for about an hour.... Introduction to Dot Net,Silverlight and Microsoft technologies as such ..
The official videos on the Imagine Cup , and Student rockstar were awesome there was a pulse of excitement among the spectators.
Overall the whole event went on fine and then we were introduced as MSPs of our college to the folks present there and it was all great !

The feedback session went on fine and there were a few students lingering in the hall after the event to make clarifications.
Looking at the number of students signing up for the campus club , I can predict that the MCC is gonna be the club with the highest sign-ups !! gosh .. and that is good ! MCC mainly focuses on dotnet classes for the members,hands on lab sessions,project contests and other such exciting events !

Hope we rock all year round !!!!
